SDC Minutes
March 5, 2011

After a delicious meal, the meeting was called to order on the porch of the Don Garlits Museum by our Vice President, George Budlong at 12:35.  There were 25 people in attendance including nine guests. Frank and Anita Ambrogio and Richard Langlots represented the Orlando Chapter. Thanks also to Frank and Liz Pritchard, Jeff Horvath, Dee Williman, Jim Stengl and Bussy Quackenbush for joining us.

Treasurer’s Report: Orva reported that we have around $xx.xx in our account.

Pam reminded everyone that the trip to Rainbow River is coming up soon. She has reserved several cabins/villas for April 1 – 3. The villas sleep 5 to 6 people, are located on the water front and have rocking chairs on the screened porches. Check-in is between noon and 4 p.m. on Friday and check-out is at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Price per person depends on how many people share a villa, but the price is reasonable. Everyone is invited to join us for a large, Southern breakfast in Stephen’s cabin on Saturday morning. Stephen, Orva and Michael Scarabino will be our chief cooks. Pam will check into reserving the pavilion for our Saturday lunch and meeting at noon. Stephen will provide a bar-b-que lunch for everyone. Pam will also check into renting a pontoon boat for Saturday afternoon rides on the River. Please let Stephen know if you plan to spend the weekend at the River or just attend the meeting. He will need to know how much bar-b-que to provide.

Stephen reported on our club charity, American Veteran’s Hometown Assist. There have been many requests for assistance lately. So far, the charity has spent about $140,000 helping 80 to 90 Veterans. There is approximately $12,000 left in the charity account, so fundraising will begin soon.

A date has been chosen for our September meeting. We will meet at Robert and Jacquie Potter’s home in Morriston on September 17th. The Orlando Chapter has agreed to host the State Meet at the Orlando Marriot on November 11-13. Originally, we had planned a November meeting at John and Pat Meinelt’s home in Deland, but that meeting will be moved to a Saturday in October, that date to be announced later.
