SDC Minutes
September 18,
2010
The
September meeting was held in Graham, Florida at the Bradford Sportsmen’s Farm.
It followed a Sporting Clays Tournament which was a
fundraiser for our club charity, The Hometown Veteran’s Assist. There were 19
members present and Michael Scarabino even competed
in the event.
The
first order of business was a brisk sale of last year’s State Meet t-shirts.
They are now on sale for $5.00 each and we still have 10 small and 7 youth
large t-shirts as well as red, black and blue club hats. They will be on sale
again at the State Meet in Crawfordville.
Treasurer’s
Report: We now have $xx.xx in our account.
Many thanks to Bob Oakes who noticed that we have many honorary members
(himself included) and decided to make a donation to the club to pad our
account. Every dollar is appreciated!
The
State Meet is just 5 weeks away. The Meet Hotel is now full but there are rooms
available at a hotel close by (details to follow). Please don’t forget to
register for the meet. On September 29, George Klutkowski wrote that they have received 65 registrations and that 99 of the 120 people
registered bought banquet tickets. Please join us in supporting our newest
state club as they host their first State Meet.
Thanks
were given to the Hometown Veteran’s Assist for inviting us to this event.
Stephen reported that the charity raised almost $24,000 at the second annual
banquet and auction on September 14.
John Pruden, an Iraqi Veteran, lost a leg to an IED. He is
married and has 2 children. Many thanks to John who donated
his winnings to the Hometown Veteran’s Assist. With our club’s donation, the charity
received $293.
