SDC Minutes The meeting was called to order by Gerry Goodrich at 1:15 after a delicious bar-b-que dinner at the home of Michelle (daughter of Larry and Verlinda McDaniel) and Emmanuel. Many thanks were given to Murray Wilson for cooking the succulent ribs and chicken and to Verlinda for making her famous baked beans as well as Larry and his family for hosting the meeting. There were 30 members and friends in attendance and all were excited to see Larry’s newly restored 1962 Lark 2 door sedan and Chris Taylor’s “brand new” 1949 aqua Champion. The Goodriches 1962 Champ and the Tucker’s 1963 Lark provided us with even more beauty. Old Business: Treasurer’s Report: Orva was on vacation but reported that our bank account was the same as last month. New Business: Stephen reported on our adopted charity, American Hometown Veteran Assist. So far, the organization has helped 37 veterans and so they are in need of more funds. On September 14, they will hold their annual Banquet and Auction (live and silent) at the Best Western Gateway Grand in Gainesville and on September 18, they will hold a Sporting Clays Tournament in Graham, Florida where there will be a special drawing for 3 very special guns. See Stephen for tickets. Someone famous (Chris Taylor) said that “The only reason to own a Studebaker is to tote your guns around.” We will not have a club meeting in August. Our next meeting will be on September 18 in Graham, Florida at the Sporting Clay Event. Hills Bar-b-que will provide lunch for $10 per person. George Matt will bring tables and canopies, but we need to provide our own chairs. Stephen will need a head count by September 11. He will contact you through e-mail or by phone if he does not hear from you. No one from our club attended the Nationals this year but Stephen reported that it was a good meet although turn out was less than expected. Studebaker International did not sell parts this year but Carl Thomas of Studebaker West did well. Next year, Nationals are in Missouri. George Klutkowski sent an e-mail out that 33 rooms have already been reserved for the State Meet. There are only 51 rooms blocked off for the Meet, so he is encouraging everyone to make reservations soon. The meeting was adjourned at 1:32 |
