SDC Minutes The meeting was called to order by Gerry Goodrich at the home of Robert and Jacquie Potter in Morriston at 1 p.m. The first order of business was to thank the Potter’s for a delicious and bountiful meal and to shower them with wishes for many happy years in their new house. There were 20 members and 3 guests in attendance. They were Toni Boccardy, George Budlong, Mary, Martha & Stephen Cade, Pamela Desantis, Jerry Fairchild, Don & Edith Fifer, Gerry & Carol Goodrich, Orva Kaufmann, Robert & Jacquie Potter, Danny Thomas, Derwood & Nancy Thompson, Gerald & Sue Tucker, Ronnie Williams, Luther Jackson, Bo Markham and a guest of unknown name. In addition to many Brand X’s, the yard was decorated with a 1960 Lark, 1962 GT Hawk and a 1963 Avanti. Old Business: Carol announced that she had e-mailed the March newsletter to everyone with e-mail addresses. Of those present, only the Fifers and Orva mentioned that they had not received theirs. If you are having trouble with the e-newsletter, please let Carol know. Edith said that Studebakers will lead the parade at the Villages Car Show on March 13th. All who plan to attend should meet at the designated spot at noon. The Potter’s, Fifer’s, Goodriches and George Budlong plan to attend. Orva said that the balance in our club account is now $698.75. Martha still has State Meet t-shirts in large, medium, small and youth large. They are now on sale for $5.00. If anyone is interested, they will be available at all future meetings. Stephen gave an up-date on our club charity – Veteran’s Hometown Assist. After the last fundraiser, there was $27,000 in the charity account. Recently, a board member read an article about a disabled Vet whose house was burned down by the teenager who was hired to look after and feed the Veteran’s dog. A home was purchased for the Veteran and Walker Furniture and Simmon’s donated some of the furnishings. A complete report will follow. New Business: Stephen announced that the date for the next meeting will be changed from April 10th to April 24th. The meeting will be at the Polebarn, aka Studebaker Farm in Newberry at 11 a.m. Chicken, beans, slaw and drinks will be provided. Please bring a dessert or side dish to share. Jerry and Ronnie will begin cooking around 8:30 or 9:00, so come hang out with us early if you like. Friends are always welcome at the cookout, but please let Stephen know how many folks will be there so he can buy enough food and drinks. The meeting was adjourned at 1:25. Martha won the 50/50 and $34 was added to the club account. |
