SDC Minutes After lunch at Big Rascal’s Bar-b-que in Ocala, the meeting was called to order by Gerry in the home of Don & Donna McCullen with thanks to the McCullen’s for hosting the meeting. There were 29 members present and 4 guests. Those present were: Toni Boccardy, George Budlong, Mary, Martha & Stephen Cade, Sam Clay and his friend Lin Burdick, Pam DeSantis, Jerry & Katherine Fairchild, Don & Edith Fifer, Gerry, Carol & Steve Goodrich, George & Georgia Matt, John & Pat Meinelt, Larry McDaniel and his grandson Elijah, Robert & Jacquie Potter, Michael Scarabino, Danny Thomas, Derwood Thompson & his grandson Cheyenne, Gerald & Sue Tucker, Don & Donna McCullen, Carol Burgess and Loren Hendley who drove down from Georgia. Loren is a member of the Big Bend Chapter. Old Business: Loren announced that a date had been set for the State Meet. It will be held in Tallahassee from October 22nd through the 24th. New rosters were handed out and rosters will be mailed to those who were not at the meeting. Let Martha know if there are any corrections to be made. Carol will start e-mailing our newsletters next month to those who are interested. It will be in pdf format and easily accessible if you have adobe reader. New Business: John Meinelt will lead a caravan again this year to Cairo, Georgia for the Annual Car Show and Gaslight Parade. Cairo is 30 miles north of Tallahassee and John plans to drive only on back roads. The event is scheduled for May 7th – 9th (Mother’s Day weekend). Registration is $20 per person and includes Friday night dinner, Saturday breakfast, a Poker Run, Saturday afternoon Car Show and a Sunday morning driving tour. In addition, there is a gaslight parade and street dance with live music on Friday night. Our club will also visit a local car museum and drive to Thomasville on Saturday night to see the largest live oak in the Southeast and dine at a wonderful restaurant at the Farmer’s Market. The Villages Cruise In is on February 20th and Studebakers are the featured car. We will meet behind the Spanish Springs Entertainment Office at 2 p.m. and drive to our designated spot together. The address is 970 Del Mar Drive. Please let Stephen know if you plan to attend. Our next club meeting is in Morriston at the new home of Robert and Jacquie Potter on March 6th. We will meet at 11 a.m. Directions to follow. Please bring a dessert to share. Robert & Jacquie will provide everything else. For those who are interested, we will also attend the Car Show in Old Town on March 13th. Meeting time and place will be announced later. The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 p.m. George Budlong won the 50/50 and lest you wonder, the drawing was not rigged!!! Elijah, our youngest guest, drew the winning ticket. George won XX and XX was added to our account. |
