NCFCSDC Meeting Minutes
October 17, 2009
Gainesville, Florida

Twenty-nine members of our Chapter met Saturday, October 17, at the home of Stephen Cade.  Larry and Verlinda McDaniel, along with their guest, barbecued ribs and chicken.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meat, baked beans, and pot-luck dishes and desserts.

We met to finalize our State Meet plans as well as to stuff our registration packets.  Once again, Martha Cade had her organized lists and went over each item individually, filling in the gaps.  Some of our members, such as George Matt, who was unable to attend last month’s meeting, reported on some of the door prize donations he has gotten from businesses such as Auto Zone, O’Reilly’s, and Advance Auto.

Orva Kaufmann, Treasurer, gave her report—along with registrations and banquet monies, the club has an ending balance of $xx.xx.  We have over 60 registrations and expect more the upcoming last 2 weeks before the meet.  Martha brought one of the tee shirts that will be available at the meet.  However, there is a “color” problem with the dash plaques and the plaques for the trophies.  Rick Courtier was never given a proof to review so he is returning them and asking for new ones that should be available before the meet.  If not, he will simply bring them with him on the Friday of the meet.  Gerry Goodrich did an excellent job in preparing the plaques themselves from the wood that was left over from our last meet.

Danny Thomas will take pictures throughout the meet and Gerry Goodrich will write an article for submittal, along with some pictures, to Turning Wheels.

New Business:

Edith mentioned that our President of the SDC, Mimi, has voiced concern over Chapter members who are not presently members of the SDC.  Our Zone Coordinator, Wayne Lee will be attending the State Meet and will meet with the Presidents of the Florida Chapters on Saturday for a short, but important, get together.

Stephen Cade gave a report on the successful auction held at the Gateway Grand on September 15 for the “American Hometown Veterans Assist” program.  Not only did they raise over $27K but they had matching funds as well.

Meeting was adjourned.
