September and October Meetings

Our September 12 meeting was held at the Deland Holiday Inn, site of our State Meet the last weekend of October.  There were 28 present.  President Jerry Goodrich was out of town and Martha Cade graciously reviewed the responsibilities and needs of our upcoming State Meet.  She had prepared lists of those activities needing volunteers and passed around sign-up sheets for those present.  Also needed are food items for the hospitality suite.  Martha gave an update on the dash plaques, trophies, and T-shirts.  The Central Florida Chapter will sponsor the Robert Cade Award they started last year.  Our featured guest speakers are Ed Burris and Richard Dormois.

Registration Committee, Orva Kaufmann and Edith Fifer, will have badges and infomation packets along with banquet tickets, if available, at the Registration tables in the lobby of the hotel.  Along side will be the T shirt table.  Danny Thomas is working on the program.  Awards will be given for the best Halloween costumes as well as trophies for Best of Show, Hard Luck, and Longest Distance.

Edith will have a donation jar at the registration desk for our adopted charity, “The American Hometown Veterans Assist.”

Judges have been chosen and they will meet at 7:30 Saturday, the 31st, for breakfast; judging will be from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Our treasurer was not present; but the Holiday Inn provided a count of 18 room reservations.  Our Chapter has received 35 registration forms.  The group chose two selections for the banquet meal—roast beef and chicken.  We had lunch and then we checked out the hospitality suite, the banquet room, and also the outside for setup and parking.
