| NCFSDC MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 2004 Note: The August meeting is the last meeting held by NCFSDC to date in 2004. By Martha Cade (Editor's note: Once again, Martha has stepped up to help me out when I could not attend a meeting. Thank you, Martha. Your help is greatly appreciated.) The August meeting of the NCFSDC was held August 7, 2004 at the Rainbow River Resort. After a barbecue lunch provided by Stephen Cade, Orva Kaufman and Charles and Ann Grant, President Derwood Thompson called the meeting to order at 2:55 p.m. Twenty-six members were present. The first order of business was the approval of the minutes from the June meeting. The minutes were approved by a unanimous voice vote. Martha Cade gave the Treasurer's Report, which Ronda Scarbino had e-mailed ahead of time. In July, a check for $xx.xx was written to Della Mays to purchase Boy Scout uniforms for Roy's troop. There is now a balance of $xx.xx in the memorial fund for Roy Mays. Old Business: Martha Cade asked Team Leaders for the Zone Meet for a list of their committee members. Jeff Rice and Jerry Nowicki (Trophies and dash plaques) Committee members are not needed. Parking and Concourse --no report. New Business: (Editors note: The September meeting details were discussed, but that was overcome by events (hurricanes) and the meeting was not held.) New Business: Follow-on report for the Rainbow River experience at the August meeting: Seventeen members spent the weekend in cabins at Rainbow River and would like to offer Edith Fifer, Stephen Cade, and Orva Kaufman a great big thank you for providing breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. They cooked pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese grits, biscuits and gravy. Fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice were also provided. What a great way to start the day! It was also a great time to visit with each other. We decided that Breakfast at Stephen's cabin should be an annual event. Many thanks also to the Grants for hosting the weekend. Six folks went tubing and Charles gave pontoon boat rides on the Withlacoochee and Rainbow rivers to all who were interested. It was a beautiful and peaceful weekend and there were lots of birds and turtles spotted including a Barred Owl that was perched on a sign next to our picnic area. After lunch and our meeting, we drove into Dunnellon. The Car Show was also fun. We parked our Studebakers at an antique shop belonging to friends of the Grants. Our cars were very popular with the crowd. |
